Frequently Asked Questions

How much does an appointment cost?

All of our services are offered completely free and confidential. At Stanton Health Care, we’re committed to making sure every woman has access to trustworthy information and care — regardless of her financial situation.

Can I bring someone with me?

Yes, you’re welcome to bring a guest (aged 18 or older) to your appointment. To keep everyone safe, we kindly ask that anyone showing signs of illness (cough, flu, etc.) refrain from attending.

I’m unsure about what to do next — is that normal?

Absolutely. Many women feel uncertain when facing an unplanned pregnancy. Our team is here to support you with clear, compassionate guidance. We’ll walk you through your options and provide the information you need to make the choice that’s right for you.

Is pregnancy testing really free?

Yes, all of our services — including pregnancy testing — are free and completely confidential.

When should I take a pregnancy test?

For the most accurate results, wait at least one week after your missed period. Pregnancy tests detect hCG, a hormone that increases rapidly in early pregnancy. Testing too early may result in a false negative, so waiting can improve accuracy.

Do I need an ultrasound?

If your test is positive and you meet certain criteria, we recommend a limited ultrasound. It can confirm whether the pregnancy is located inside the uterus, determine how far along you are, and assess viability. This information is essential when considering your next steps.

Is abortion legal?

Yes. Abortion is legal in both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. If you are considering this option, we can provide accurate information to help you understand the process and your rights.

Your Privacy Matters

At Stanton Health Care, your personal information is protected under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018. All information you share with us is kept strictly confidential, except in cases involving mandatory reporting (such as risk of harm to self or others, or suspected abuse).

Feedback and Complaints

We are committed to providing high-quality care and always welcome feedback. If you are unhappy with any part of our service, please email us — addressed to the Centre Manager — and we’ll work to resolve your concern promptly.
